Fred Matt Announced President
Today the F. X. Matt Brewing Company announced organizational changes to its senior management as: Nick Matt became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and Fred Matt became President and Chief Operating Officer. In commenting on the announcement Nick Matt said that the changes are reflective of the increasingly important role Fred has taken in the overall management of the brewery and this title change is consistent with the position he now plays in our organization. As President, Fred will be responsible for the operations of the brewery, the marketing and sales group as well as our financial performance.
Nick went on to say however that this was not an announcement of his retirement or necessarily a lessening of his involvement in the overall management of the brewery. “I plan to continue to be around and very involved in the brewery and the industry.” (Nick serves as Vice Chairman of the Brewer’s Association, the trade association for craft and independent small brewers.) “Rather Fred’s becoming President is what we have been evolving toward for the last several years and the announcement is a formalization of the role that Fred is now playing in our organization. In fact, this change had been approved at a Board of Directors meeting earlier in the year but given the fire we chose to delay the announcement so as not to send any signals that might be misinterpreted.”
“Fred is the fourth generation of the Matt family to hold the role of President of the brewery-a legacy I know both he and I are proud to carry on. Fred and I have worked together for nearly twenty years and I know his character, his capabilities and his commitment well. He has worked tirelessly to change the fortunes of this company and build our Saranac brand into what it is today. We are indeed fortunate to have a person of Fred’s outstanding abilities and tremendous commitment to become the President of the brewery. I know he will do an outstanding job.”
In commenting on the announcement Fred said “I am very pleased and proud to be come president of the brewery. We have all worked hard to make this a better company and that will certainly be our objective going forward. I am also pleased to continue to be working with Nick. Under his leadership this company has made great progress. He has been a great partner to work with and I look forward to that continuing for many years.”
